Going through DevArt stock is like smashing your head in repeatedly with a mallet. It seems that, in the People category at least, it all falls into a few distinct categories.

Category 1 - I Was A Teenage Camwhore:
This probably encompasses 90%+ of the people stock. Pictures taken by adolescent girls on their webcams or in the bathroom, headshot only with an emo/angsty look on their face. Half of them are goth. A very small fraction of these are guys. 99% of them are useless to any other than the "OMG I DID THIS PHOTOMANIP OF YOU CAN I GET IN YOUR PANTS!!!111!!ONEONE"

Category 2 - Look At My Shitty Picture:
If you can actually wade through the camwhore pics, you'll find a few that are sort of "wtfs." These mostly appear to be pictures taken by the deviant or their friends, that were basically just crappy pictures. I get the impression that the thought behind most of them were "this picture was rejected from actually being worthy of being posted as art in my gallery, so here..maybe some of you can use this." Maybe half of these are at all usefull.

Category 3 - Good Stock:
Probably less and 1% of 1% of the stock People photos are actually usefull to artists. They consist of full body shots, interesting poses that might actually be used in a scene, off the wall outfits, or various other things that make them usefull to people doing anything other than photomanip fanart.

Unfortunately I don't have a lot of examples of Cat3. I've gone through over 1000 pictures already and found a few marginally passable ones. I know I've saved a few to my HD at home on occasion, but I don't have access to them right now so I can't link them. But here's a few halfway decent ones I found today:
Decent but poor lighting. Would like to see the full body: [link]

I know I'm bitching. Tough. Is it so hard to ask that you actually think about what your photo might be used for? (OK, I guess the camwhores already know) I know not everyone is a pro photographer with their own lamps and studios, but c'mon, if you're not even going to try why bother?
